The challenge

As the cannabis industry matures, operators face increasing pressure to deliver consistent, high-quality products at scale. While many companies invest heavily in genetics and cultivation, a lack of investment in post-harvest technology has left processes fragmented, manual, and highly variable. Traditional drying and curing methods that rely on subjective decision-making and labor-intensive workflows inevitably lead to inconsistencies in moisture content, terpene retention, and overall product quality.

For multi-state operators like Elevate Cannabis, these challenges are amplified. With multiple facilities in different climates, maintaining uniformity across batches and locations becomes increasingly difficult. Inconsistent post-harvest practices can disrupt production schedules, reduce efficiency, and ultimately impact brand reputation in a competitive marketplace.

Elevate recognized that to maintain and grow its reputation for premium flower and scale effectively, it needed a more controlled, repeatable approach to post-harvest operations.

"One of the biggest positives is consistency."

The solution

To address these challenges, Elevate Cannabis partnered with Cannatrol to implement its patented Vaportrol® technology across 12 dedicated dry and cure rooms spanning facilities in Kansas City, Missouri and Northern Illinois.

Custom built specifically to meet Elevate’s needs, this system introduced a data-driven, precision-controlled approach to drying, curing and storage by regulating vapor pressure and water activity. Unlike traditional methods, Cannatrol’s technology removes guesswork and enables operators to standardize environmental conditions across all rooms and facilities.

The infrastructure was designed to support multiple stages of post-harvest processing simultaneously, allowing Elevate to establish a continuous harvest cycle with weekly throughput. Teams gained the ability to fine-tune conditions in real time, whether managing wet hang drying, post-trim curing or achieving specific moisture targets for different product types.

In addition, the flexibility of the system allows rooms to be repurposed as needed, including specialized applications like kief curing. This adaptability ensured that operations could respond dynamically to shifting production demands without sacrificing consistency.

The results

By transforming post-harvest into a controlled, scalable system, Elevate Cannabis achieved significant operational and quality improvements:

  • ⚖️ Enhanced consistency: Standardized drying and curing conditions led to improved batch-to-batch uniformity across multiple facilities.

  • Increased efficiency: Streamlined workflows and reduced manual intervention enabled reliable weekly harvest cycles.

  • 🌿 Improved product quality: Precise control of water activity resulted in better terpene preservation and overall product integrity.

  • 📈 Scalable operations: The ability to replicate outcomes across different climates and locations supported multi-state growth without compromising standards.

  • 🔧 Operational flexibility: Adaptable room configurations allowed for diverse applications and responsive production management.

By integrating precision technology with operational expertise, the company is demonstrating that quality can scale without compromise. And consumers are noticing, propelling Elevate to the #2 Top Selling Brand in the Missouri market (Leaflink 2025 Brand Winners List).

Conclusion

Through its partnership with Cannatrol, Elevate Cannabis successfully redefined post-harvest as a strategic advantage rather than a bottleneck. This case study highlights a broader industry shift: as cannabis moves toward greater standardization and consumer expectations rise, data-driven post-harvest solutions will be essential for operators seeking to lead in both quality and consistency.
