What relative humidity really means
Relative humidity (RH) is "relative" because it depends on both the temperature of the air and how much water that air is holding. RH is determined by two key factors: dry bulb temperature, the actual air temperature, and dew point, the temperature where moisture condenses.

You can have 62% RH at very different actual conditions depending on how dry bulb and dew point are paired, which is why RH alone doesn't tell the full story of your drying environment.

Understanding dry bulb and dew point gives you real control over your dry and cure.
Dry bulb
Simply the actual temperature of the air in your room or chamber, usually what a standard thermometer reads.
Dew point
The temperature at which water vapor in the air begins to condense. When dew point sits close to dry bulb, RH is high; when dew point is well below dry bulb, RH is low.
Why dew point must stay below dry bulb
Keeping dew point below dry bulb is essential for avoiding condensation and protecting your flower.
If dew point rises to meet or exceed dry bulb, the air can no longer hold all its moisture, and you effectively get "rain" on cold surfaces in the room.
This is the same reason water beads up on a cold beer bottle: the surface of the bottle is colder than the dew point of the surrounding air, so moisture condenses on the glass.
Why stable environmental control matters for cannabis buds
