How to Load a Cool Cure For Perfect Cannabis Drying and Curing

You just harvested your plant and the flowers look beautiful—dense, resinous, and ready for a controlled dry and cure in your Cannatrol Cool Cure system. Treating this first load correctly is the key to preserving terps, potency, and final bag appeal.

Know Your Cool Cure Capacity

Overloading the Cool Cure is one of the most common mistakes new users make.

  • The Cool Cure is rated for up to 1 kilo (about 2.2 pounds) of wet cannabis flower, depending on bud density, cultivar, and overall structure.

  • When the chamber is packed too tightly, the unit has to work much harder to reach and hold your target set points, which can slow drying, impact water activity, and reduce consistency from batch to batch.

Prepping Your Harvest

A short pre-dry before loading the Cool Cure helps you stay within capacity and improves final quality.

  • Hang whole plants or large branches for about 24 hours in a cool, dark, well-ventilated space if conditions allow, so some free water can evaporate and chlorophyll conversion can begin.

  • After this initial hang, lightly trim your buds to your preferred style—either a full trim or simply removing the largest fan leaves before loading.

How to Arrange Buds in the Chamber

Good airflow around every cola is critical for even drying and curing.

  • Place buds on the trays “shoulder to shoulder,” avoiding stacking or deep piles so air can move freely around each flower.

  • Mix hanging branches and tray-loaded buds if you like, but always keep space between flowers and avoid blocking internal air paths to maintain uniform conditions throughout the box.

Commercial Scale Drying and Curing

Growers working at scale can use the same Cannatrol Vaportrol® technology in larger rooms.

  • Cannatrol commercial systems are engineered to handle much larger loads—ranging from roughly 160 to 800 pounds of cannabis flower per run and beyond, depending on system design and harvest cadence.

  • These systems are sized to your production schedule, allowing you to standardize drying, curing, and storage across batches while protecting yield, terpene retention, and GMP readiness.

Dial In Your Settings and Let It Run

Once your Cool Cure is correctly loaded, you are ready to start the automated dry and cure.

  • Enter your preferred dry and cure parameters on the control panel (or use recommended starting profiles) and close the door to let the system manage temperature and vapor pressure throughout the cycle.

  • With proper loading, the Cool Cure will take your harvest from fresh-cut to stable, sale-ready or jar-ready flower—without constant burping, guesswork, or chasing room conditions.
